Just a clarification: META tags are not outdated, rather META NAME=’KEYWORDS’ is outdated, as the major search engines ignore them. You should still be using META NAME=’DESCRIPTION’ as this is what the search engines might use in the SERP and proper keyword usage in the description helps your on-page seo.
Very good point chris. I beleive that meta descriptions are more valuable now then they have been in a few years.
